Tokyo Olympics 2020 : Kamalpreet Failed to win a any Medal
Tokyo Olympics 2020 : Kamalpreet Failed to win a any Medal : India’s medal hopes at the Tokyo Olympics have suffered another setback. Historic discus thrower Kamalpreet Kaur has failed to win a medal in Tokyo. Kamalpreet Kaur finished sixth in the discus throw final on Monday.
Kamalpreet was participating in the Olympics for the first time and she has already shown her skills in the Olympics. Kamalpreet is yet to play for India in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
Only two Asian female athletes qualified for the women’s discus throw final at the Tokyo Olympics. One was Kamalpreet Kaur and the other was Chen Yang of China who finished 10th.
Kamalpreet has never appeared in the medal race in the eight-round event. She threw her best in the third round with a throw of 63.70m and finished sixth. In such a situation, the final was disappointing for them.
Valerie Allman of America got the gold medal in women’s discus throw. He won the gold medal with a distance of 68.98 metres. Germany’s Kristin Pudenz won the silver with a time of 66.86m and Yami Perez of Cuba won the bronze with a time of 65.72m.
However, barring the finals, Kamalpreet’s performance has been impressive and expectations from him in the future have also increased. Kamalpreet was playing without her personal coach during the entire competition. Playing for the first time in a major international competition also shows a lack of confidence. He previously participated in the 2017 World University Games, his only international competition.
