7th Pay Commission : Good news for government employees before Raksha Bandhan
7th Pay Commission : Raksha Bandhan is on 22nd August and before Raksha Bandhan, government employees and pensioners of Uttar Pradesh have received the gift of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief Allowance (DR) increase.
The Yogi government of the state has announced a gift of increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief Allowance (DR) to the government employees and pensioners of the state before Raksha Bandhan. This will benefit about 16 lakh employees and 12 lakh pensioners of the state.
Chief Minister Yogi has directed the Finance Department to prepare a scheme immediately, which will benefit about 16 lakh employees and 12 lakh pensioners of the state government. The DA revision in 2020 was put on hold due to the financial burden on the state exchequer in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Uttar Pradesh government had announced in April 2020 that there would be no increase in DA till July 1, 2021.
Normally DA is extended twice a year on 1st January and 1st July. The decision to defer the amendment has deprived government employees of three increments. A government spokesperson said, “The Center has announced reduction of DA of basic pay from 17 per cent to 28 per cent on July 14. The state will implement this and the Chief Minister has asked the Finance Department to prepare a proposal on this. Immediately. so that the changes can be implemented as soon as possible.
He said, “We cannot say whether the DA would have been revised in July 2020 and January 2021. Considering that it would have been revised by 4 per cent on both the occasions, it is being estimated that the state government would have saved about Rs 7,000 crore in a year.
This order will benefit state government employees, employees of aided educational institutions and technical education institutions and employees of urban local bodies as well as pensioners.
